Weekly Newsletter #25 - 31st May 2021
Hello my friends 🖐,
As you can see I took a week off to get some rest, but also to reshape my weekly newsletter.
I had some time to think of what was the real purpose of this newsletter, but also to adapt my writings and ensuring it perfectly fits with what you were looking for. And based on the audience and also the articles which most interested you.
I decided to focus on content to investors (Individuals, Business Angels, VCs, Corporates or Institutional) interested in the European Tech Ecosystem.
Thus, every week I’ll do my best to share with you relevant content split into 4 sections:
A Tech sector decrypted
A selection of the top 3 news that happened in the European Tech Ecosystem
A tool or a content for investors to better invest, track, support, and exit an investment
An open question to you
I hope you will enjoy this new format and feel free to share your feedback 🙏
Natural Language Processing to build machines chat with humans
Recently I saw an incredible figure
266 billion
It’s the size estimated by 2027 of the Artificial Intelligence market (from Fortune Business Insights, 2020).
Impressive but not that surprising as this technology is being implemented by more and more organisations in order to power customer engagement.
As you may know, there are a lot of sub-technology that composed Artificial Intelligence such as Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Neural network, or Natural Language Processing (NLP)…
As this market is incredible, I’ve decided to start a series of articles during which, I will review what is behind those sub-clusters or Artificial Intelligence.
This week we will have a deeper look at Natural Language Processing and what are the main Tech companies leveraging this technology in Europe.
The Top 3 Tech News of the week, the recap in a simple Tweet below:
If you want to access the details like description of the companies listed, the investors, or access to the PR articles, feel free to have a look at the full article.
What you should know about early-stage startup valuation
As an investor, you might struggle to find a valuation method that yields a representative measure of a startup's potential... Should you use the DCF? Or the VC method? Other methods?
Your choice of valuation method will depend on:
the type of fund you work for (#CVC? industry-specific VC?)
your unique investment thesis and goals
the startup's maturity, innovation and industry, etc…
Our research team at Early Metrics prepared this paper to share insights on how to value startup companies and the challenges behind the valuation.
If you still have 30 seconds, I would be very interested to have your answer, and this week my question is:
As you have seen in section 2, that the European Union wants to increase control of acquisitions of European Companies done by major Tech players (GAFAM).
Do you think it’s a good idea?
So, that’s it for this week, I hope you have enjoyed this new format and wishing you a great week ahead🖐
Stay safe ❤️
